Students must be 14 1/2 years old by the date class starts.  The state of North Carolina will not allow any exceptions. We do suggest waiting until 3 – 4 months prior to your student’s 15th birthday to take a driver’s education class.

Yes.  The 6 hours of behind-the-wheel driving is included in the cost of all of our classes.  Driving is scheduled after your student passes the classroom portion and gets their eyes examined..

Yes we do accept payments as long as the balance is paid before class starts.

Yes.  We charge $360 for 6 hours of behind-the-wheel driving.  We’ll neeed to get some paperwork from the previous school.  Call us at (704) 537-7774 to discuss the papwerwork and scheduling.

The driving schedule is determined by the student’s age.  Older students are given scheduling priority.  A 14 1/2 year old who is 6 months from being eligible to test for their permit does not need to drive before a student who is already 15 or older.  Younger students typically drive 2 – 3 weeks prior to their 15th birthday. This way, what they learn behind the wheel is still fresh on their mind when they get their permit.

The online instructor is not involved with the driving schedule.  They will provide instructions on how to schedule driving on the last day of class prior to the final exam.  Instructions will also be emailed to the parent and student email addresses provided on the registration form after class is over.  This is done to prevent parents from trying to schedule driving before their student has passed the final exam.

You’ll need to fill out a restricted instruction permit.  We will provide this to you after class is over.  Fill out the top section only and bring it to the office when you have your student’s eyes checked. Information about the eye check clinics will be provided in the Driving School Next Steps document provided after your student passes the online class final exam.

You can view the graduated licensing program requirements on the North Carolina DMV website (page will open in a new window).

What People are Saying

"My 18 Year Old Daughter needed some extra help. So I got a 2 hour driving session and we go DJ. She was exceptional with my daughter. That 2 hour driving blitz with the driving instructor is all we needed to give our daughter some added confidence and learn some much needed safety tips. Sometimes your kids learn better from another adult. They are outstanding! Donny was awesome in scheduling everything and making sure we got what we needed.."

"At Ace Driving School, I found awesome set of people who are giving their best service to the customers. I moved to US in 2017 from India as a Master's student. I never had any four wheeler driving experience back in India so I always had a big blocker in my mind whenever someone used to ask me about driving in US. In summer of 2018 I realized that I gotta learn how to drive in US, that's when I contacted Ace Driving School for driving lessons. Mr. Charles was assigned to me as my instructor and he did a phenomenal job. Charles in my opinion is one of the best in this profession. Simple, calm, soft spoken, he was more like a friend while teaching the intricacies of driving. In all I took 5 driving classes and I cleared my license test in my first attempt. They didn't charge me exorbitant price for my driving classes and I found them to be very cheap when compared to other driving schools. On the actual driving test day, Donnie will come in early to take you to the DMV for the test. he will brief you about each and every details the inspector might see in the test. Believe me, if you will keep a note of all the instructions from Donnie then passing the test will be a cakewalk for you. I would really really like to Thanks Donnie and Charles for making it so easy for me to learn driving and getting my license in the very first attempt.."

"Absolutely lovely!! I took 3 classes and passed the test. He made me feel comfortable and taught me various things that I wouldn't have been aware of. On the test the instructor said that I was a really good driver, and passed with flying color. I would recommend him to anyone, even for a little bit of practice. Practice makes perfect.."

"This is a great Driver’s Ed program. Staff are knowledgeable, supportive and very responsive. Also offers private driving lessons for teens that need this. I’ve had two teens participate in this program and will send my youngest soon to Ace Driving School.."
